In a world full of bacteria and dirt, it is important to keep our hands clean. But we don't always have access to hot water and soap. That's why hand sanitizers are a good choice in these cases.
However, commercial hand sanitizers often have a strong and overpowering smell due to the ingredients and aggressive alcohols in them. These formulas are usually not very gentle on the skin of the hands and can cause serious irritation, especially for children and people with sensitive skin.
That's why you can make a super effective, fragrant and useful homemade hand sanitizer with essential oils. They have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.
What are the required ingredients:
- 9-10 drops lavender essential oil;
- 20 drops of tea tree oil;
- 1 tablespoon vodka;
- 200 g of aloe vera gel;
- ¼ teaspoon vitamin E (from ampoule).
In a small glass container with a tight-fitting lid, pour the essential oils. Shake well to mix. Add the vodka to them and shake again. Then mix this mixture together with the aloe gel in another, larger container. Finally add vitamin E and mix/shake one last time.
Pour the mixture into a suitable container with a dispenser that closes tightly so that the alcohol in the disinfectant does not evaporate. Use a little of the mixture every time you need to wash your hands and you don't have soap and water nearby.
Important: Do not overuse essential oils and keep in mind that they are extremely concentrated and potent. Before using such a home disinfectant, test your skin for allergies with very small amounts of the essential oils.
Do not allow their excessive use, as well as exceeding the recommended doses of essential oils in the homemade disinfectant. If you have any skin reaction after use, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor.
