  • 1 and 1/2 tsp melted butter
  • 2 tsp cream
  • 6 yolks
  • May 40
  • 3/4 tsp fine sugar
  • 1 teaspoon s alt
  • about 2 tsp flour (for stiff dough)
  • 100 g almonds (maybe 100 g raisins)
  • 1 egg yolk, for spreading
  • dusting sugar


This kozunak recipe has been a favorite of my family for several years now. I got it from my grandmother who visited the Czech Republic years ago and her friend there treated her to this cake. My grandmother was very impressed and immediately asked for the recipe.I hope it becomes your favorite as well. Happy Holidays.

Add the cream, egg yolks, yeast, sugar and s alt to the butter. Beat the mixture very well and add the flour. Knead until a stiff dough is obtained. When the dough rises, mix it with raisins and ground almonds. C

put the dough on the table and shape it like an oblong bread. We roll out one half of the dough starting from the middle and fold it towards the unrolled part, then transfer the unrolled part to the rolled one.

We put the kosunaka in a kozunak form, or a pan greased with fat and let it rise again, then shape its edges with a wet knife, spread the kosunaka with yolk and sprinkle it with sugar if desired. We bake it until done.
