We know how difficult it is to remove wax and paraffin from various surfaces. Not only is scraping them off often a daunting task, but removing the stains that remain afterwards is a pain in the ass. Even sometimes the mission is impossible.
What can you do if you stain your favorite things with wax or paraffin?
Removing wax and paraffin from fabrics
What can you do?
First scrape off any excess wax or paraffin. Then take a piece of paper. Place it on the affected area and, using an iron, rub until the wax melts. Finally, under hot running water, treat the rest of the stain with a stain remover, preferably a stronger one.
Removing wax and paraffin from hard surfaces
If paraffin got on metal, wooden or plastic surfaces at home, you can try the following method:
Using an ice cube, freeze the paraffin until it solidifies very well. Then scrape off the bulkiest part of it. Finally, wipe the affected surface with a solution of detergent and water.
Rinse well and dry.
This method is also effective for balum, a surface painted with light paint, mosaic, Plexiglas, marble.
Removing wax or paraffin from carpet
Again process the paraffin or wax with an ice cube to harden. Scrape off the excess with a spatula or your fingers. Then, with a strong anti-stain solution, rub the affected area. Rinse thoroughly until the stain is completely gone.
If necessary, dissolve equal parts alcohol and water and rub again with this solution. Allow to dry in a ventilated place.
