Skin exfoliation is an important step in achieving softness, smoothness, stimulation of natural regeneration processes in skin cells. Exfoliation is best done with the help of natural ingredients. Sugar is a product that we all have in our home and which is incredibly suitable for making a homemade scrub for exfoliating the skin of the face and body.

What are the benefits of a sugar scrub?

Abrasive sugar granules help remove dead skin cells, build-up of dirt and bacteria. At the same time, sugar has moisturizing properties. It extracts moisture from the environment. When combined with the right moisturizing oil, sugar works wonders on the skin by nourishing and hydrating it.

Sugar contains a form of glycolic acid that helps break down the bonds between skin cells and dead skin debris. This helps to cleanse, brighten and regenerate the skin.

How to make a sugar scrub for face and body?

All you need is sugar, white, brown, unrefined, whatever you choose, and suitable nourishing and moisturizing oils.

  • 1 cup sugar;
  • ½ cup coconut oil or olive oil;
  • Essential oils of choice;
  • 1 mixing bowl;
  • 1 storage jar.

Place the sugar and butter/olive oil in the bowl. If you use coconut oil, you must first melt it in a water bath and pour it over the sugar. Add the butter of your choice slowly over the sugar and mix until you have a thick, granulated mixture.Add the essential oils (3-4 drops each). Transfer the scrub to a suitable glass container, a jar with a tight-fitting lid.

Use the scrub after taking a hot shower, after your skin's pores have expanded and are ready for treatment. Rub 1-2 tablespoons of the mixture into the skin with massaging movements for at least 5 minutes. Rinse after use. Apply moisturizing lotion.
