Professional hairdresser and make-up artist Vili Borshukova reveals the secret of beautiful long eyelashes, which can be achieved with additional extensions. What are the types of eyelash extensions, what is the essence of the procedure for applying them, what are the subtleties of proper care, the possibilities of curling eyelashes, the prices and the individual steps in the extension. The answers to all these questions directly from the specialist.

Types

The easiest and fastest way is to apply a whole row of eyelashes. It is also sold for home use and can be used repeatedly. The second type of eyelashes are the bundles, which are attached with glue to the natural eyelashes. The procedure in the salon takes 5-10 minutes, and more skilled clients can practice it at home as well.The effect lasts from a week to a month depending on proper care. The glue can be clear or black and the bundles come in three lengths – short, medium and long. The third way is the most durable, but also the most labor-intensive. The extra lashes come in three lengths, are applied one at a time and look very natural. Depending on the density desired by the client, it takes the professional from half an hour to an hour to do a good job. The glue used is very strong and so the eyelashes last longer.

The Procedure

No special diploma is required for applying long-lasting eyelashes, but it is desirable to pass a training course, such as is held at the Magama - hair extensions salon. The steps are simple, but very precise – the glue is applied to the natural eyelash, the additional eyelash is placed and that's it. There are no contraindications. Even though I'm working with a very strong glue, it doesn't sting and lacks any uncomfortable feeling.

The right care

Following the specialist's advice at home is extremely important for the long-lasting effect and guarantees the necessary safety. Lashes should not be slept on and should not be treated with toilet milk. It is desirable not even to put mascara on the bundles in order to keep them as long as possible. Specific make-up removers formulated with an oily base should not be used. They can weaken the effect of the glue. It is recommended to visit a maintenance specialist every month. Long-lasting lashes can fall out gradually or be removed all at once with a very strong remover.

The perm

The so-called eyelash curling is also practiced, the effect of which lasts at least a month. Instead of using a clip that can break the lashes, they are curled with a mini roller that is placed on the lashes themselves. Available in size M and L for shorter and longer lashes respectively.It can be plastic or silicone. The procedure takes from 30 minutes to an hour. The mini-roller is placed on the eyelid and the eyelashes are attached to it using a special glue. A curling iron is applied to them and left for 15 minutes. This is followed by fixation for at least another 5 minutes. Finish with a product that removes the glue and the lashes peel off the mini roller. To save time and for the convenience of the client in the salon, the procedure can be done while she is sitting with a mask on her face, for example. Kits are also sold for home use, but should be handled with extreme care.

Price

Lashes that are applied in a full row are offered for personal use at a price of BGN 30. Extension with bundles in the salon costs BGN 35. Long-lasting eyelashes that are applied one by one are BGN 180. but at the moment there is a promotion in the salon and the service is offered for BGN 110. Permanent curling of eyelashes with a chemical preparation is priced at BGN 35.

Lash extensions step by step (view gallery)

1. Make-up is completely removed using a cleansing pad. After 2-3 minutes, proceed to the second step. This basic stage ensures the fast drying and longevity of the eyelash extensions;

2. An anti-wrinkle pad is placed to protect the lower eyelid during the procedure;

3. A row of eyelashes is glued to the back of the hand and with rounded tweezers an individual hair is selected;

4. Dip half of the eyelash into glue and scoop out enough to stick it;

5. The lash is placed on the eyelid and wait a few seconds for the glue to work. A distance of about 1 mm from the eyelid is necessary because contact with the sensitive skin in this area may cause discomfort;

6. A pump is used to blow air to speed up the drying of the glue. The straight tweezers here help to spread the glue evenly and fill the empty space between the natural and added lashes;

7. Wait 5-10 minutes and apply the protective coating protecting the eyelashes from moisture and impact. Then the eyelashes are arranged using a comb-brush;

8. Finally, a volumizing mascara is applied, specially developed for extended eyelashes, which gives them extra shine and volume.
