Bulgarian Maria Bakalova won the "Critic's Choice Awards" for supporting female role in the film "Borat 2". The 24-year-old from Burgas was nominated along with Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Olivia Colman (The Father), Yu-Jun Yoon (Minari), Amanda Seyfried and Ellen Burstyn.
The Critics' Choice Awards honor feature films, television series and shows.
Orlando Bloom has announced the nominations and award for the Supporting Actress category.
In her emotional speech, Maria thanked her parents in Bulgarian, telling them: Mom, dad, I love you so much!
Bakalova shared that growing up in a small suburb of Burgas, she never imagined that this could happen to her, that she would have this chance, and she thanked Sasha Baron Cohen for the opportunity she had given her. The actress concluded her acceptance speech by saying that this award is for every young child, wherever they are in the world, to know that their dreams are possible.
