After giving an almost two-hour swing show in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture, Glenn Miller's orchestra fulfilled its threat to indulge in a crazy party in the last minutes of its stay in our country. Without a trace of fatigue from the nearly nine-hour drive from Varna to Sofia, the musicians blew up the hall with a brilliant selection of jazz and swing classics, which brought the audience to its feet and caused a spontaneous storm of applause.
After the final encore, the musicians from the Glenn Miller Orchestra hurried to start the fun at Beso Bar & Dinner, where their official after party took place. The restaurant's team offered its world-famous guests spinach rolls, pork ribs with roasted sesame sauce, salmon fillet with ginger sauce and zucchini, abundantly poured with several types of brandy and branded whiskey.
While having dinner, the orchestra players enjoyed the program specially prepared for them by the chamber ensemble of the establishment - piano, double bass and drums. Trumpeter Marcel Reiss could not resist the temptation to join in with a short improvisation and played his wind instrument alongside the Bulgarian musicians. Not long after, the rest of the orchestra also joined in the playing and made incredible interpretations of popular melodies, which grew into Rhodope and Macedonian folk songs in a jazz version.
Toward the end of the evening, no one remained indifferent to the strong musical-artistic atmosphere that prevailed, which turned the restaurant into a kind of jazz bar. The musicians invited lovely guests of the establishment to dance, and the beautiful singer from the orchestra Roos Jonker sang "Ain't No Sunshine" to the accompaniment of the piano.
Visibly in high spirits and feeling right at home, the musicians had no intention of leaving even though it was nearing 3 o'clock and were generously signing autographs and taking pictures with their enthralled fans.
