The National Culinary Festival " Colorful Table" will begin its journey for the fifth year in a row with a celebration in the capital's Vitosha region, announced the organizers from the Association for the Development of Arts and Crafts- 7 (A. R. I. Z.-7). The only traveling festival that showcases live Bulgarian culinary, folk and craft traditions is visiting Vitosha district in Sofia on Sunday, March 24, 2013, with the support of Vitosha district-SO and Miladino Brothers-1917 People's Community Center.
The beginning of the holiday is at 10:30 a.m., the place is the garden near the wheel of tram 5 in the district" Knyazhevo", and traditionally it will start with the competitive culinary exhibition of dishes from the region. At the colorful table everyone can participate by preparing a feast according to a traditional recipe, and the jury will award the participants in several categories: for the best ethnic vision of a stand, vision of a dish, authentic recipe, original recipe and dessert.
The mayor of the Vitosha region, Stoyko Dukov, who is a veteran of participating in the "Colorful Table" culinary festival, has once again prepared a surprise for the guests. After taking part in last year's edition of the festival in Sofia in September with "Boyko Borisov" tarator, "Fandykova" salad and "Barozu" kavarma, now the mayor will once again treat everyone with Uncle Sasho's giant pie from Vladaya. At the holiday in September of this year, the pastry delicacy with a diameter of 1.5 m was one of the most delicious attractions of the holiday.
The organizers have also prepared other surprises, among which are the VIP guests and professional chefs who will prepare their favorite recipes live in the professional kitchen of chef Peño Ivanov.
The traditional rich folklore program will not be missed, which in the rhythm of folk music will make the holiday even more unforgettable.
The masters of folk crafts, a large part of which this year and last year visited Club "A. R. I. Z.-7" (meetings there are every second and fourth Thursday, and the address is Sofia, 78 "Kiril i Metodii" str.), will demonstrate the secret of traditions preserved over the centuries.
For the little ones is the traditional open air for children's drawings on the culinary theme "Grandma's Recipes". The organizers remind that March 27 is also the deadline for sending works for the National Contest "Grandma's Recipes". Children up to 14 years of age can participate in it, the condition being that they draw favorite moments and feasts from the kitchen of their mother, grandmother, etc., and send them accompanied by a description, name, age, address and phone number to the address of the National children's palace in Sofia (bul."Alexander Stamboliyski"191).
