Losing weight is a tough task. Weight loss is a slow process that requires rigor and persistence.

Many people fail to resist the temptation that floods them from all sides. Therefore, they prefer short-term diets for supposedly quick results, or else they trust various tricks that have the reputation of being "magical".

The effectiveness of these tricks in most cases is zero. Who are they and why should you not trust them?

Detox Diets

These theories are becoming more and more popular with many. I don't know why the idea is spreading in the information space that all people are clogged with toxins and need a cleansing regime that will solve all their he alth problems, even remove extra pounds.

This is absolutely false. Toxin congestion only applies to people with liver disease and kidney problems. They are the organs responsible for removing toxins from the body. If they don't work, then there is a problem.

However, weight loss on these detox diets is rarely successful.

Juice Cleanses

Like detox, juice cleanses are also a myth. They have been popular since the 1970s, when vegetarianism began to gain modern popularity in the Western world.

The only reason you can lose a small amount of weight juicing is because your calorie intake is restricted. Remember that these diets run the risk of a yo-yo effect that will come crashing down on you as soon as you go back to your old eating pattern.

Low Carb Diets

This is the other fad in diets - blaming carbohydrates for all the ills that plague the figure. But does this also apply to proper carbohydrates?

By itself, cutting out carbs for a period of time is not very effective. Even if you lose weight, it will come back afterwards.

The best thing you can do is to alternate low carb days with moderate ones. This way, your metabolism will learn to recognize carbohydrates and keep your weight balanced as well as your blood sugar levels.

The dangerous thing about low-carb diets is that they cause intense hunger, which poses risks of overeating after the end of the regime.

Weird foods and drinks

It is becoming more and more fashionable to turn to exotic superfoods, which provide exceptional benefits to the body and are a powerful weapon against weight. Goji berries, spirulina, roots and whatnot are being touted as the miracle that will get rid of the pounds.

The truth is that instead of fooling yourself with such products, it is best to simply follow a long-term diet of fresh produce, whole grains and unprocessed fresh meat. It's simple!

To lose weight we must eat less than 1000 calories

Doesn't it sound too extreme? Too low calorie intake risks seriously slowing metabolism.

Instead of destroying your metabolism in the long run, try to reduce portions but eat smaller meals. Starving will not solve the weight problem, because your appetite will always hit you suddenly.
