The principles of weight loss according to Ayurveda differ in many ways from Western ones. According to the most ancient system of treatment, there are 6 types of taste – sweet, sour, s alty, bitter, hot and astringent. If one taste dominates our diet, the balance in our body is disturbed.

According to the ancient Indian system of healing and nutrition, fruits are not suitable for weight loss because they are sweet, cooling and hydrating. To reduce weight, it is good to increase the fire in the body. This is done through spicy herbs and spices – black pepper, mint, ginger, yoga tea.

Must also take bitter and astringent food – green tea with lemon, and the lemon should be with the peel, slightly squeezed so that the bitter ingredients from it can enter in the tea.

Avoid sweet, s alty and fatty.

The fire in the body is also increased by positive stress. During this period, we should not indulge in lazy, but active rest - more physical, mental activities, depending on your case, the doctor may also recommend more sex.

One of the fundamental principles in Ayurvedic medicine is that there is no one-size-fits-all treatment for everyone. In addition to the nutritional program, the doctor will prescribe a change in habits and thinking to make the healing process fruitful.

These were some of the tips that Dr. Antoineta Zarkova – a long-time specialist in Ayurveda shared with the audience during a public lecture during India Week in Sofia.
